Members and guests can begin by enjoying an informative display of members’ heirloom and culturally diverse garments on the Breakfast Porch. Margaret Whitehead, Curator of Blithewold’s collections, will then discuss the extensive examples of vintage clothing and apparel maintained by the historic estate; and will offer specific suggestions to attendees on the preservation of heirloom and historically valuable garments. “On Broadway,” a Standard Placement Flower Show, a floral interpretation of musicals was held at the Portsmouth Free Public Library May 17 and May 18, 2019. Over 120 horticulture plants and specimens and 24 designs were entered by the members of the Portsmouth Garden Club and the NGC.
The RI Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. will present an NGC Design Specialty Flower Show in conjunction with the Rhode Island Home Show 2018 at the Rhode Island Convention Center from Thursday, April 5, through Sunday, April 8, 2018. The show will consist of forty eight floral designs, educational displays (click here to view) and speakers on a variety of topics. 106 participants from nine states gathered at the 2018 Connecticut Symposium for Flower Show judges at the Water’s Edge Resort
RIFGC, Inc. presents on November 14, 2018, a European Floral Design Demonstration and Reception at the Agawam Hunt, 15 Roger Williams Avenue, Rumford, RI 02916. The demonstration features Francoise Weeks, a world renowned floral designer, who has developed her singular style of Textural Woodlands and Botanical Haute Couture. Her dynamic work has been published in national and international publications, garnering her a global following. The demonstration begins at 2:00 pm, followed at 4:00 pm by a reception to meet Ms. Weeks. Tickets are $60.00 per person.
